Short Code Incoming Keywords

You can assign custom keywords to your short codes. The API will check your keywords against incoming messages. Keywords are matched against the entire message. If an incoming keyword is followed by any characters (for example, a text message signature), the SMS API will not match the keyword to your license key.

Here are the rules for short code keywords:

  • Duplicate keywords are not allowed on the same short code.
  • Keywords cannot be one of the system keywords (STOP, HELP, etc.).
  • Keywords must be at least 3 characters long.
  • Keywords cannot be a typical SMS response (sure, yes, thanks, monday, etc.).
  • Keywords are not case sensitive. THIS is the same as this and ThIs.
